Celebrations!

Wow, this is the week of celebration for my family. Ok, at least 3 days of celebration. We started off on the 4th with my parents 53rd wedding anniversary. Aren't they a great looking couple?

Then Sean and I celebrated 10 wonderful years of marriage on the 5th. I'm still reeling over the idea we have been married for a century!! What the heck??? lol

Last but not least, today is my sweet little Evelynn's 2nd birthday. Wow, how the time has flown by! What a joy she has been in our family. Always curious and popping up with new words to say. She is so loving and very protective of her sisters. What a character. Life would be so boring without a toddler!

***For some reason I never posted this back in April. Oops oh well, a day late and a dollar short. Here is it anyway. lol ***

Today I spoiled my kids with sponge cake for breakfast. Alas, my children soon discovered that this sponge cake, was really made out of sponges! They decided to cut their losses and eat the frosting at least. I was hoping for a much bigger reaction from the kids, but they were rather content just eating the frosting. Maybe they April Fooled me in the end! So, not the prettiest decorating, but I was rushed. I should have made it last night, but I was just too tired. I got this idea from Family Fun magazine. Hey and if you want to do it...you still have time. The day is young! lol I posted the video, but it's not all that exciting. lol I accidentaly deleated my still picture of all kids checking the cake out. Woops. I hope everyone has a great April fools day!

The newest soccer mom!

Yes it's true folks. I have become the latest in the soccer mom era, and I have to say this could be fun! Today was Genevieve's first soccer game and my baby did GOOD! She's quite the runner and even scored the first goal of the game. I must give credit to my dear sweet husband, because he is definitely the runner of the family. In high school I was much more willing to let my horse do the running up the hills around our town, while Sean was actually out their running those same hills. What's crazy is he enjoyed it!! I should have suspected he was a bit of an odd ball from that! lol Just kidding honey!

Now without any further ado, check out my big girl! She's got a fun group of girls to play with and I'm excited for them all! : )

Graduation and promotion

Last week was a whirlwind of events for the Nelson clan. Of course the main focus for us was Sean's graduation. After four long years of medical school, I'm proud to say I have a doctor in the family! Sunday May 15th Sean graduate from Touro Univsersity's doctor of osteopathic medicne program. His official title will be D.O. not M.D. (don't worry, they do the same stuff) Just a side not for what the difference is between an Osteopathic Dr. and a M.D., Osteopathic does more hands on stuff similar to a chiropracter as well as learn all the regular stuff. Unfortunatly, Sean didn't care for that aspect too much, so don't expect to see him use it in his practice too much. lol Touro is a Jewish sponsered school that moved to Henderson about 7 years ago. They are a big school and have campuses in NY and CA. Overall it's been a lot of hardwork (wouldn't expect different) but a good experience. Lot's of growth for both of us, and glad it's now in the review mirror. Now to get over the next hurdles of residency.

Sean has already headed to Downey, CA which is near LA. He will be working for Downey Regional Medical Center as an internest for one year. In the fall he will apply for the Air Force's family pracitce residency and we hope to be off into the wild blue yonder all together next summer. We are not too excited about this time apart, but they aren't paying him enough to support a family of five in Southern CA. So in the mean time, the girls and I have moved home with my parents.

The day after graduation, Sean was also promoted to the rank of Captain in the Air Force reserves. He looked rather dashing to me in his dress blues! Ya gotta love a man in uniform right? Well, at least I do. hee hee We went over to the Mike O'Callgahan Federal Hospital for a short pinning on ceremony with a couple of other classmates he graduated Touro with. Just a side not here. If your husband tells you he wants to go through medical school...make him apply for the military scholorships...it's totally worth it! Anyhoo, I got the honor of putting his new ranks on which was fun. Once he finishes this year at Downey he will go active Air Force as a Captain. woo hoo!

As for the rest of us. We are readjusting to living in Logandale. Genevieve is happy to be "home", Savannah misses the "green" house in Henderson and Evelynn is just happy to be happy. It's been hard to leave all the wonderful friends and family over in Henderson. I really found such great people to be with and am so greatful for their friendships and support. The girls are also really missing the awesome parks we had in Henderson, especially the splash pads. So we comfort ourselves in horseriding, 4-wheeler riding and hanging out with family. Not such a bad gig. ;)

Genevieve asked me, "Mom, what is St. Patrick's Day?" I said, "It's a special day you dress up in green." Hmmm, is that really what it's about? Well, for us, Yes! We started off the day with green eggs and green pancakes and then the girls donned they're best greenery. It was a pretty fun day.

The girls will be wearing their stuff at a St. Patricks Parade on Saturday and I've been wanting to get green tutu's for it. Never got one, but I found a pretty cool tutorial on how to make them. I wish I could have found a brighter green...but I took what I could find. At least I got some nice dark green ribbon to help it out. Anyway I was excited I made the tutu. lol Silly huh?

I'm a GREAT Aunt!

So take the title either way you'd like...because I am both! lol My niece Stephanie had her first baby on February 6th. So yes this makes me a great aunt!! Stewart Agustus Bunker, big name for such a little guy! lol He is adorable! Congratulations Steph and Stew! We got to meet the new little guy, and can I just say...he is one sweet little baby! Even Evelynn thought he was interesting...at least for a little bit. She tried poking and proding him as much as possible to see what he'd do. If you scroll down to my music, click on the Brad Paisley song...I dedicate that to my dear sweet nephew Stewart (the dad)...cause I know what kind of a kid you were...I think I might know what kind of a kid your boy will be. LOL Hang on Stephanie...things are gonna get dirty!

Well, after four long years of school...we are just about finished. Sean passed his step 2 board in January, which was a huge sigh of relief and kept a smile on my face for a week. This week we got the next step finished, which is where we will go after graduation in May. We were not picked up with the military like we had hoped for a residency, instead Sean will do a transitional year in a civilian program. The transitional year will be spent rotating through the more common areas of medicine. ie. ER and internal med. Then next fall we will find out if we are going to spend the rest of residence in a civilian or military program...depending on what the military wants. Hopefully that explains everything well enough. So with no further adue, we will be spending the next year in.... CALIFORNIA!

Sean will be working at Downey Reginal Medical Center, in a city called Downey, of course. It is outside of LA and nice and close to Disneyland. The girls are excited because we told them we'll be living really really close to Disneyland. Of course we're going to try and get the season passes, shoot living that close I think we'll use it up.

Now the next challenge is making sure we find good and as inexpensive housing as possible. We won't be moving till the end of May, so we have time.

We are really excited to be moving on the next step of this journey. I started thinking it would never end...but look, the light at the end of the tunnel is finally showing. : )

Picture day for Savannah and Evelynn

We've been having fun with our camera! I decided I didn't want to pay for a bunch of pictures no one wants (except Grandma) when all I need is some 8x10's and 5x7's. So I did it myself. Oh and can I put a little plug in here for Walgreens? I liked the way my photo's turnd out better with them than Walmart. Walmart's seems like they come out too dark...which is probably my fault. Since I don't know how to fix it...I may have to stick with Walgreens.

Besides playing around with the camera, we enjoyed a beautiful Martin L. King day yesterday. The weather here is GORGEOUS! I can't believe how nice it is. It'll change quick so we'll enjoy it while we can. We spent yesterday morning and the park where it was rather crowded with everyone being out of school.

Sean got to drive down to Chino, CA on Monday for an interview this morning, so his day wasn't as much fun as the girls and mine. We just found out he's got another interview on Thursday in Riverside. Those sound like fun places to live.... so keep your fingers crossed for us! aka Pray like crazy!

Birthday Party, Christmas Party, Parades, all done!

Wow...here's to 24 hours I'm glad are behind me. lol Today is my little Savannah's birthday. She is finaly a 4 year old. She was hoping to be 5 like her sister, but at the end of the day she settled with 4. Thank heavens!! Well, we knew today was going to be very hectic so we started of the whirlwind with Savannah's birthday party yesterday. We kept this pretty low key and just invited a couple friends over for a "play date" So glad they could come and I think everyone had a great time. Oh and can I just say that Betty Crocker's birthday cake tutorials are awesome!! If you ever need a fun little cake check there, but beware that they can be time consuming.
After the fun birthday party we raced off to the church to get ready for our ward Christmas party, which also was a lot of fun. The best part was when Santa came to visit. My girls were ready for him this year and with their letters in hand they marched up to see Santa. By his look, I think Santa was a little surprised at the length of Genevieve's list! We even got a picture with all three girls with Santa before Evelynn realized she was sitting on a very strange jolly old man's lap. We got two pictures in, and then the jig was up.
After setting up and cleaning up at the church we went home for some much needed sleep.
Then the race started off bright and early this morning. We were off to the parade route on Water St. in downtown Henderson. Fortunatly we don't live to far away! I got the girls off with their teacher and then ran(I'm to lazy to run, I really drove) to the opposite end of the parade route and waited till my two little tutu wearing girls got to me. Of course Savannah was on the opposite side of the street so I raced around till I got pictures of them both dancing down the street. Once that was over we raced home, changed into their real costumes and headed back to Water St. for the performance. We made it there with a few minutes to spare, thanks to the awesome band that took a little longer than they should have. I needed those few moments, because I was one nervous mamma and didn't have things as put together as they should have been. Finally the girls were ready to go and I found a seat and tried recording and taking pictures of them all while pretending to keep an eye on Evelynn too....uggg Sean had to work and missed out on this fun, so I had to make sure and take plenty of pictures. : ) Some how we made it through the day, but gosh I don't remember feeling this tired in a long time! Lots of fun in these last 24 hours...glad it's all done, at least till next year!
PS The last picture is the end result of a tantrum my now 4 year old had, because she wanted to wear a rainbow costume like her sisters. Wow, it went on and on. Did I mention I'm kind of glad this day is over?

So here is Genevieve's Kindergarten picture....I wish she would have been smiling a little more, but other than that it turned out pretty well. Yipe!! Thank you Mom, you did a great job on her hair. I was visiting Sean in Florida when it was picture time and so Grandma went above the call of duty to get Genevieve ready for pictures too.

Since I'm finally updating my blog, I have to include some Halloween pictures. The girls have started dance classes and have had a few shows. They are such hams, but they eat this dance stuff up!! Savannah seems like a little natural and has the other kids watching her for a few of the moves. Go Savannah! So if I can be smarter than the computer I'll figure out how to up load a little clip or two of their dances.

Well, school is in full swing and things are starting to go pretty smooth. I've started to see how kids can really cost an arm and a leg. In addition to school clothes and a few supplies, the two older girls have also started dance class. I LOVE that they are in dance, but gee, after the tights, leotard, ballet and tap shoes...I'm tapped out of cash! I know it will be worth it when I see them dancing to the Ghostbusters theme song next month at the mall...yes, life will be complete. The really funny thing to me is I remember dancing to Ghostbusters! lol Ah the good ol days in the "Red Hot" dance class.

Oh and in some fun news, Evelynn started walking August 30th. I have to note the date because she walked at the end of her 10th month while the other two kids kept me waiting till the day before their birthdays. What a big girl she is! I would add some video of it, but couldn't figure out how. lol

Now, I don't know how many people actually read this thing, but I stumbled across a cute website for kids for LDS General Conference in October. So if you've got little ones, check this out. http://www.scripturesforkids.com/
They have bingo cards, packets with lots of activities plus more. They do ask for a $1 donation for some of there stuff if possible. Anyway, I think this is going to help our family out a lot this year.

1st Day of Kindergarten

Well, it's official...I have a kid in school! I can't believe it. She marched off and didn't look back. She was too busy meeting new friends already. She already knows 3 of the kids in her class, which I think will be good. She looked so cute in her dress, like such a big girl. We did have a little melt down this morning when we told her she couldn't wear her church shoes because they were open toed. Fortunatly she was ok with wearing her pink cowgirl boots...although they don't exactly match the outfit. lol I am so excited for her on this new adventure, what fun she'll have meeting new friends and learning new things...hopefully it will all go nice and smoothly.

We got to take a little family vacation up to Lehi and stay with Sean's sister and her family. We're having a really nice time and one of the highlights was going to the Hogle Zoo. The bird show was our first stop and Karleena told us to try to be picked for the participation part of the show. Genevieve was one of the lucky ones who got picked. I was a little worried how she'd like the bird flying to her then eating out of her hand, but she did really well. Then the lady asked a question that made Sean and I shift in our seats. "Are you going to get married soon?" the lady asks. Of course Genevieve's answer was, "yes". This had everyone laughing. I thought, "of course you'd ask Genevieve that question." She picked out her groom last year and last week she found a book of dresses and flowers she's been looking through! Yikes, we are going to be careful with this girl.

Savannah's first day of preschool

Today was Savannah's first day at preschool. She has been so excited for this, more so than mom. I just had a hard time letting go, but we did it, and she seems to have had a great first day. I made the mistake of telling her a couple of weeks ago that I turned her "stuff" in so she could go to school. That was followed by a week of, "Mom is it my turn to go to Genevieve's school yet?". When I told her last Thursday that she'd be starting on Monday I had to endure the question of when she was going two times a day for three days. I think she was pretty excited. She only had one problem at school and that was taking off her shoes and socks at recess. She cried when the teacher asked her to put them back on. She's my tender heart. lol

Here's hoping the excitement doesn't wear off to quickly.

I had to throw these pictures of Evelynn. The girls dressed her up and they turned out pretty funny. Sean thinks she looks like a little old lady..not you mom. ;)

Oh, mom this one's for you. Genevieve was getting ready for church on Sunday and even tried curling her own hair. She said she was trying to curl her hair like Grandma Waite. The pictures aren't too clear, but you get it I'm sure. :) Oh, and I think your hair comes out a bit better than this. Still trying to figure out why Genevieve is always posing for pictures with prayer hands. lol

Spring has Sprung!

Hey everyone-

It's been awhile since I've been on here, not to sure if anyone still checks this thing out, but we'll give it a go.

We've had a pretty fun few weeks. We started off with heading to Carlsbad CA for spring break with some of the Waite family. We always have a blast playing on the beach and then warming up in the condo's hot tub. This year my dad had his condo share down there and we got to stay with them, since we have the baby. Everyone else got to camp out on the beach.

We also spent time at Old Town, which is new...ha ha. Actually the church's museum there in Old Town which talks about the Mormon Batalion is really fun. They've up-dated it and the kids had a ton of fun with panning for gold and watching pictures talk and walk around in their frames. Definatly a lot of fun so go if you have the chance.

We've also had the fair this past weekend. I was talking with my brother and realized I don't think I've missed a fair since Jr. high. lol Yea that's funny. The kids had a lot of fun watching cousins showing animals hanging with family and riding on rides. It kept us all pretty busy.

Our friends, Tony and Mindy Peterson brought their kids to play with ours at the fair. It was a marathon of rides and activities all day long. What fun we had!

Long time no see!

Wow, it's really been awhile since I've posted on here. Probably want even have any readers cause they've figured I've abandoned blogging. lol

Well, the new year has started off fine, not much happening that I can think of. Genevieve and Savannah have been very good big sisters to little Evelynn, who by the way is growing like a weed. She is 3 months old and I can hardly believe it. She is such a pleasent baby and I still can't get enough of her. I laugh at myself with how infatuated I am with her.

Genevieve has been pretty funny lately. On Friday we were on our way home from the children's museum and she let me know that she is going to live in California when she grows up and I was welcome to come visit her any time I'd like. I said that was perfect since I'd need a place to stay when I go visit Mickey, but she didn't get my little joke. She went on with her California dreams. I was welcome to visit and help her with her babies. Then on Saturday she told me she was going to have 7 kids...I started rethinking my answer the day before that I'd love to come and visit. lol

Savannah is becoming such a big girl now days. She turned three back in December and loves showing off how old she is with her fingers, unfortunatly she can't keep both of her fingers down, so she shows everyone that she's four instead. She has quite a little personality of her own. I think she's starting to feel like the middle kids, so I'm trying to make sure to give her "Savannah" time...we'll see if that helps.

She and Genevieve love to sing Little Drummer Boy. On our way home from church on Sunday she made us play it over and over so that everyone had a chance to sing. She got right down mad at us if we weren't participating in her little song fest. ha ha

All the while, Little Miss Bubbles (Evelynn) smiles on. As to the nick name, I keep wondering if she's going to start sprouting teeth. She's constantly drooling and making bubbles. Fortunatly at this time there are no teeth yet. She is starting to giggle and loves to have her sisters sing or talk to her. So far we've only had one instant of her being over loved from her sisters. Savannah apparently wanted to hold her one day while I was helping Genevieve in the kitchen. All of a sudden I heard Evelynn crying. I ran in to find her face down on the floor instead of on the couch where I had left her. Poor Savannah felt horrible and left the room crying. She has such a tender heart sometimes and this really made her feel bad.

Sean is on to a psych rotation at the state mental hospital this month. He's decided that although interesting, it's not quiet the direction he wants to go. I can't believe we are into the middle of his third year...and I'm thankful for that. It means we are almost done, at least with school.

As for me, I'm trying to start off this new year being a little more organized. I've decided that deep down inside I've got a little ocd, it's time to let some of that out. ha ha I'll let ya know how that goes.

Evelynn Megan Nelson

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let you know, if you hadn't already heard via facebook, email or my dad :), that our little bundle of joy finally arived. Evelynn Megan Nelson was born October 6th at 9:52 am. She weighed 6lbs 15 oz and was 19 in. long.

My water broke at 11pm the night before but I wasn't having contractons, non-the-less we headed off to the hospital at 1 am. I wasn't going any where fast and so around 3am they gave me pitocin. I thought that I'd have her around 5 am, but she made me wait it out a few more hours. She finally made her grand entrance and gave mom a much needed rest. lol

Evelynn is such a sweet little thing and her sisters are just adoring her.

The older girls and daddy went to the park for awhile to give me a chance for a nap. When they got home Savannah went to the last place she had seen Evelynn. I had since moved her to the bedroom with me. I heard Savannah say, "Oh no! Baby Evelynn is lost!" It was so cute and I have really enjoyed watching the older girls with they're baby sister. They have been so cute with her.

I thought I'd put a picture of me in my last few "day's" of pregnancy....I'm hoping. lol Also Savannah was being a hoot and I had to put up a couple pictures of her. Any time Savannah falls asleep the dog seems to be right there with her. He knows she's all about playing and I think he trys to wake her up.

Ok, so I have spent the last month crocheting a baby blessing gown for our sweet baby #3. Sean asked if doing it myself was really cheaper. So I thought about it....the thread cost me around $17.00, the hook cost around $1.50 and the pattern book cost me around $7.00. I usually crochet for 2 hrs. a night and the dress took me about a month...it took me a little while to understand the pattern, so there is some begginer errors. Anyway, the gown is finsihed and I'm very happy with it. Plus I felt that the price was good for it.

This morining I was talking with my friend Robin and we started looking up on line how much a crocheted christening gown would cost and I found the exact pattern I used...can you guess how much they wanted for the gown????

First day at Preschool

As so many mom's have done before...I sent my kid off to preschool for the first time today. Not too big of a deal since I had to stay there the whole time. Fortunatly that was just for today. Genevieve seemed to really enjoy it and she did pretty good following instructions. Savannah did so well following the class instructions that the teachers thought she was one of the students as well. lol I think we'll wait for a bit before she starts preschool though. It was a fun morning and I'm intrested to see how she does tomorrow when I'm not around. I'm sure she won't mind, since she hasn't ever had much seperation problem. Savannah may be the one with the seperation problem from Genevieve tomorrow. I love how excited she looks here with one of her teachers. Silly kid.

Home again home again jiggidy jog

We have spent the last month out in Logandale, so now I have some catching up to do. Sean worked with one of the family doctors out there for his first rotation. It was a great experience for him and he really enjoyed working with his mom and sister Aileena. I told Sean he got this first rotation pretty easy. While he was enjoying a pretty relaxed atmosphere, some of his fellow classmates were getting reamed by the doctors they were working with. He'll have his chance of that during other rotations I'm sure. This month he will be spending his time studying for his board exam at the end of the month.

For the rest of us, we spent last month having fun on the 4th of July, camping, hanging out with the family and going to a family reunion. Actually Sean got to do most everything with us, which everything even better. It was really great to be home and the kids loved it. There is so much more freedom there, wide open spaces and plenty of stuff to get into. Genevieve is having a hard time getting back into being in Henderson. She wants someone to play with everyday like it was out there. Oh well, we'll get back into the groove...eventually.

Painting

This weekend has been full of painting. Sean decided that it was time to paint the girls rooms girl colors instead of the blue it was in. So we went with girly colors, pink and purple. I'm thinking it might be a little bright...but oh well, it's done. ha ha This all started with wanting to paint the baby's room, which got done yesterday. I laughed when I realized I'd chosen my wedding colors. Hey what can I say I like yellow, and lavander. I don't have a picture of the baby's room yet, because it's still needs some finishing touches, but I'll up date that later.

The girls enjoyed the paint cans and I couldn't resist putting up there little jam session. They were so cute. Oh and Savannah told everyone at Vistiting teaching interviews yesterday that, "This is my mommy, isn't she cute?" ha ha I slipped her an extra cookie for that one. Heavy Hearts

My mind is so full of thoughts, yet I just don't know how to begin or where to begin. The first thing is to say how much love and care I have felt from my home town on the loss of my neice Heather. Not just there but also new friends I have met on this grand path of life.

Since I was blessed with being the tail-end of my family I have had the chance of being very close with my neices and nephews, many of which are closer in age to me than my own brother and sisters. Heather was only 13 years younger than me. Last month I had the chance of taking Genevieve on a trip to Dinsneyland with Angie (my sister), Heather, her brother Chris and Chris's fiance Kandice. I can't express how glad I am to have had that time to share with her and spend a week making such good memories. Heather was one that got motion sick on long trips and on certain rides, just like her mother. Even so, she was willing to take Genevieve on things I couldn't because of my pregnancy. I can't even tell you how many times Geneveive dragged her on to the Snow White ride. She was so helpful and loving with both my girls and always wanted to play with them when we went home for visits. She had struggled the usual teenage things, but I had really felt in this last year she had found what she wanted and she seemed so much happier.

Lysha was the other girl in the accident and I can't express how sad I feel about her passing as well. A few years ago I recieved a church calling to be the teacher in the Beehive program and that is where I got to know Lysha. She has been such a good example of love and kindness to those around her. I really feel blessed to have gotten to know her.

We continue to pray for Carolynn and wish her a very speedy recovery. It was such a relief to know that our cousins daughter, Ashley was spared and has been able to walk away from this accident with minor injuries. I want Jessica to know how much we love her and care for her and hope that she will feel comfort in this difficult time.

I am very grateful to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. To know that this is not the end and that we will be together, as a family again. My sisters family has already felt the bitter pains of death but have truly pulled together and worked through it. They will do it again. Heather will forever be in our hearts, we will miss her now, but know that she has returned home and one day we will be with her again.

Well, yesterday we went for an ultrasound and thought it would be fun to take the girls with us. It was fine for me, cause I relaxed the whole time...Sean may think it wasn't quite as relaxing. ha ha We showed the girls the baby's heart pumping and the out line of the face and they thought it was pretty neat...but it definitely didn't keep them occupied for long. Finally we got down to the real question of who we have hanging out in my belly. Sean and I looked hard. I figured some of his medical training would come in by now, but alas we looked at the screen, looked at each other then just begged the tech to put us out of our misery. We are very happy to say we will be having a girl! We were definitely shocked, because Sean and I thought for sure "she" would be a "he".
Genevieve was ecstatic because she had guessed right and knew that mom and dad owed her ice cream. She is already delighting in the times mom is wrong. She also came up with a great name for our sweet new baby girl....stick-horse cowgirl. Yeah you just try and beat that name, I dare ya! So we are keeping it in mind.
I might put up an ultrasound picture, but really none of the pictures she printed off are very clear or good. Why don't they just go for profile shots all the time, cause head-on those baby's look like creatures from outer space!
Anyway we are so excited to be having another baby girl. We definatly know a little more about them then boys. ha ha

Hello all my crafty friends-

I need a little help with a quilt I'm working on. I did a log cabin block but now can't decide which pattern to put it in. So if you all don't mind, drop me a line and tell me which one you liked. There are two pictures that look the same, just different angles. And a couple don't have a ll the blocks, so just imagine the pattern finished in each pic. ha ha Is this just the saddest thing....I've been working on this quilt for 5 years!! One year I cut all the pieces out and then in 06 I put most of the blocks together, but I'm just finishing the last os the blocks now. Pathetic I know. Anyway, thank you for your help!

April Fools

So I started off the day with a little April Foolery. I couldn't help it.... I stuffed a box with a baby doll holding a Dora fiesta mylar balloon and then a note which read, "Sugar and spice and all things nice that's what little girls are made of, but maybe this time we'll have to try... snips and snails and puppy dog tails that's what little boys are made of." As my mom read that my dad gave me a big hug and told me congratulations....he was so excited. Then on the inside it said, then again, maybe it's just April Fools. At which my dad was a little "disheartend". But my mom said, wait theres' something on the back and which he begged her to read on. It said, "The turth is that Heavenly Father has finally answered Genevieve's prayer and we are expecting Baby Nelson #3 in October 2009." It was pretty fun. I've had a couple of sister-in-laws say they won't believe me till tomorrow. hee hee It's for real though! woo hoo. We're excited, and feeling very blessed to be given the chance to raise another child in our family. Happy April 1st everyone!

Diggin for what???

Last night we were in the midst of our getting to bed rituals when the normal routine was interrupted. I was brushing Genevieve's teeth when I noticed a slight gleaming in her right nostril. At first I just thought she had a snotty nose, no big deal, but my mind kept telling me that this was not normal snot. So I looked again to discover she had inserted a lovely purple bead into her nose. I started laughing and asked her what in the world she had put in her nose. She couldn't think what could be in there, of course. So then I said there is a bead in your nose, why did you put that in there? "I don't know." When did you put it in there? At which she tells me she put it in while watching a movie, the day before. She had that thing shoved in there for two days!! I had noticed her messing with her nose during the day and told her to grab some toilet paper and wipe it...if I'd only known. So Dr. Sean pulled out his otoscope to get a real good look at it then tried getting it out with tweezers, which pushed it back further. We kept telling her to blow it out which finally got it close enough to the edge that I was able to pop it out like a zit! ha ha

I know, every kid has to put something up there nose or in their ear...hopefully we just won't have any repeats. ha ha

So my sister and her girls were over the other night for dinner and we decided to frost a cake for desert. Savannah fell asleep and didn't seem to know the danger of this when her mother is equiped with a bowl full of frosting. I figure it's payback for all the times she wakes me up in the middle of the night, and at least she gets something sweet out of the deal!

We also got to take care of our friend Robin's little girl Allie for a little bit the other day. The kids had a ball putting on the princess dresses. Aren't they adorable? Don't you love Savannah's lazy eyes. I really tried picking one that was better, but she wasn't too good on this photo shoot.

Logandale church fire

So by now most everyone has heard that the Logandale chapel has burnt down. It's really been an emmotional day, even if it is just a building. So many people in town participated in building the chapel. My dad and other teenagers at the time helped make the brick while others worked on different areas. Everyone had a part, and it was a community effort. Since then their posterity as well as new families to the valley have attended church here, blessed babies, had baptisms, weddings and funerals. It really has been a center in our lives, and it is so sad to see it go. It's was unbelievable to watch it in flames and then to go later and see what was left. Of course it just a building and the most important thing is no one was hurt, and we will build again and make new and wonderful memories once more.

We have started taking our own family Christmas Picture, but I forgot to get them printed out to send to people. I figure that it's ok though since we didn't get many cards out this year. I lost my address book, which didn't help. At least it helped me in my excuse for not getting Christmas cards out. ha ha Ok, really there isn't an excuse, I'm just a little lazy! We hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas season, and hope that this will suffice for a Christmas card until next year. Feel free to email me your address so I'm prepared. :)

I was also wondering if anyone had any fun Christmas activities for little kids ( 2yr and 3yr) or some fun Christmas traditions or stories. I'm always looking for something new to do. If nothing else, I thought it might be fun if people wanted to share their favorite Christmas/traditions.

Baby it's cold outside!

We got SNOW!!!! Not just a few flurrys on the ground...we are talking real snow and lots...for us anyway. It started raining around 2pm and then turned into slush and then in to snow. We have been a little excited to say the least. Sean even made us all pile in the car and go to the park. The drive was a little scarry, after all we don't get a lot of wet stuff on the roads here and when it comes, people tend to not know how to drive in this stuff. After Sean and Genevieve played in the park (Savannah fell asleep in the car) we came home and built a nice snow man. The funny thing is that Sean and I had way more fun with the snow then the girls. They whimped out and stayed in the house while Sean and I played in the snow, made a snowman and chased the dog in the snow. Oh and the dog, what a hoot, he loved the snow and was so mad that I made him go in the house. He wanted me to chase him all over the yard, but as soon as I started slipping around out there I was done! We hope you enjoy our pictures!

Happy birthday old man! Over the hill, but dosn't seem to notice. Oh that's 'cause his head is buried in his school books. For him the sad part isn't having a birthday too close to Christmas and having to share presents between Christmas and birthday. It's that he always has finals or is getting ready for finals on his birthday, poor guy! Study hard, one more semester is nearly over!

Today is Savannah's 2nd birthday. What a big girl. She's been singing Happy Birthday to herself all day, I love it! As you can see, her daddy is having a birthday too. He loves sharing a pink and purple birthday cake with Savannah. hee hee He is turning the big 3-0 thus the over the hill sign in case you thought it was for Savannah.

It was a low key birthday but a lot of fun. Happy Birthday baby girl!

I don't know what possesed me, but I thought we needed a dog. I forgot that a five month old puppy isn't potty trained and can cry all night long. But he has won our hearts. He totally lets the girls mall him around and he loves it. A couple of mornings he's gone into Savannah's room and laid at her crib till she wakes up. It would be cute if it was a little later in the morning! ha ha So at 6am I hear, "Mom, dad, look, puppy!! I tried ignoring the comments and going back to sleep, but alas, it was not to be!! So now the girls doors are shut so as any temptation from Chien Chien to go to their rooms is not an option. We named the puppy Chien Po, from Mulan, cause that happens to be what we were watching around the time we got him. Since his breed is from China I decided it fit. My sister got his brother and the dogs love to get together for little reunions. He's a lot of work but a lot of fun.

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving with lots of food and lots of stuffed bellies. It's such a great time of year, especially because it allows families to reconnect with one another, and give thanks for the wonderful blessings we have been given!

Red Rock adventures

Sean had spent the previous weeks studying and taking block exams. This ment we needed a little together time. So we took off to Red Rock (Vegas's). We weren't too sure we could find anything easy enough for the girls to climb, but we decided we were up to the adventure. Most of the time the girls were able to walk it, but they got to piggy back it on some of the uphills. The best part for them was finding the red sand to play in. Savannah liked it so much that I think she snuck as much home in her clothes as possible. We have got to get a sandbox at home. We ended up hiking around there for about an hour and a half, just enough to tire the girls out. Ah it was a good day! Now Sean is back to the books, kill joy! ha ha

So back in October Sean surprised me with a little cruise down to Mexico. I've always been a little hesitant of these things but Sean found a hot last minute deal and off we went. Talk about food food and more food. When we weren't eating we were sitting in the hot tub. It was a 5 day cruise to Cabo San Lucas and Ensanada. The water in Cabo was like bath water and perfect for a swim. I did decided that shopping in Mexico wasn't as much fun as it used to be. No one wanted to barter and I figured the stuff they were selling wasn't all that unique so, we just walked around the towns enjoying the sites. Sean wanted to eat at the street vendors and I like that food too, but I also knew our tummies weren't as eager to eat Mexican street vendor food. So I talked Sean into saving that little adventure for the last day of the trip, just in case. That pointer paid off as we both came home with slightly unhappy tummies....oh but those tacos were worth it! The other thing is I love being married to a Spanish speaker, it made things so much easier to figure out and we were able to head off on our own to do stuff, without getting too worried.

I was also very impressed with how nice everyone is on the boat. You'd never walk up to strangers at the movies and start talking about each others life stories...but on a boat everyone is pretty open. It was nice how friendly every one was, from the guests to the crew. We will definatly do this again.

Ok, so today was a really busy day. We started it off with Genevieve's class at the rec center then off to the Dr. for well baby visits. A quick trip to Walmart then it was out to Logandale. My dad, the girls and I were invited to ride the old firetruck which was the Booster club float in the Moapa Valley H.S. homecoming parade. The girls weren't to sure they liked the idea of throwing candy to other people, but Genevieve finally caught on and tried to aim for as many people as she could. Unfortunatly, Savannah had a harder time but finally caught on with the last peace of candy on last possible spot of the parade route. Oh but we had a great time! So about the Halloween costumes...I just finished Savannah's last night and I was really stoked. I've only made a couple of dresses, so this is an accomplishment....and I had to share, cause I was really excited about it. Genevieve wanted to be little read riding hood and even talked her Grandma Waite into making the cloak. Boy, is she going to be authentic this year at Halloween. So the costumes are done and we had a little parade of our own. ha ha

The girls and I went for a little ride on Monday. It was so exciting that Savannah couldn't handle it. ha ha Actually I think she thought the sun was too bright. Yeah, these are going to be my little cowgirls...just need to move to the country again...and get a horse..again! Someday!

7 Little years ago

Tomrrow is our 7th anniversary. It's is truly amazing how fast this time has gone by, until we start talking about things we have done over the last 7 years together. Then we say, "Dang, we have been married for a long time!" We both agree we wish we'd have done a little more traveling before the kids came along, but that's alright, we'll just have to drag them around with us. I'm so greatful for a husband who loves me and cares about me and the things I want to achieve. I was really worried what medical school would do to our marriage and family. We are now over a year into medical school, and it's hard. It's hard to connect at times because he has to concentrate and study so hard. There are days he is gone from sun up to sun down, some times not seeing the kids at all. But with how difficult it can be, we also realize that with hard work in our marriage we can do this. Nothing can replace a little communication and as I write this I realize how often he will call me on a break at school or to take a break from studying. I know he is torn on how to keep good grades and a happy family, it is a hard challenge, but he is trying and doing his very best. I'm so greatful for Sean and the sacrifice he makes to make us a stronger, happier family. Here's to 7 great years with many more to come.

Ok, with a little copying of other peoples ideas and getting lots of help plus sheer will power, I think I have kind of figured this blog stuff out. At least we are on a roll now...I hope. I think my children think I abandoned them today. But the triumph of figuring it out is worth it, right?? ha ha
